Education: Monkseaton Case Study

Monkseaton High School

Monkseaton High School in Whitley Bay is a landmark building, with a landmark ventilation system. A full case study can be found in the Downloads section, but the highlights include:

  • Design Consultancy
  • Strict design criteria and energy targets
  • Over 22 classrooms ventilated from the Atrium
  • S1500 units for the Sports Hall
  • Bespoke units to deliver the solution

The school was opened in October 2009 to rave reviews and Head Teach Paul Kelley commented:

“Breathing Buildings have been central to creating the most innovative school building in the UK in 2009.

The quality of air, and the improvement in the environment within a building with exceptional air and light quality has set new standards for schools. Our students, staff, parents and visitors all comment on the refreshing change from the institutional air they have always experienced in public buildings.”

We are immensely proud of what has been achieved at Monkseaton and would be happy to discuss how we can bring similar pride to your natural ventilation project. I you are interested in learning more please contact us.
