Marriott Hotel at Atlanta Airport gains silver LEED accreditation

Marriott have 50 hotels in the process of applying for LEED accreditation. The Marriott Hotel at Atlanta Airport has become the latest of only 41 hotels in America to be awarded silver LEED status.

With 403 rooms the energy efficient building consumes 30 per cent less water and 28 per cent less energy than the average hotel which is not accredited under the LEED scheme by the US Green Building Council.

Robert Woolridge, general manager of the hotel, said: "Our contributions in making the environment a healthier place by reducing waste, conserving energy and water and using 'green power' provided by the city of College Park are paying off and will continue for years to come."

To further add to the hotel's green credentials all of the materials which were used in its construction travelled less than 500 miles to the site.

Currently there are 50 hotels which are part of the Marriott brand and within the LEED accreditation process, with some having been designed with the standards in mind and others certified.ADNFCR-3216-ID-801282344-ADNFCR
