Controls Engineer – Breathing Buildings

We currently have an opportunity for a Controls Engineer at our Cambridge office, to assist the company as it expands.

 Operating across all areas of the business this is a unique opportunity to influence the direction of our fast growing company.  What this means in practice depends on how you can develop the role beyond the following:

  • Work with the R&D team to develop our controls approach for future products
  • Design and implement control strategies for current projects
  • Identify supply chain improvements

Working in a fast growing company requires a can-do attitude above all else, but there are technical skills that this role requires:

  • Strong focus on customer needs
  • Communication across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Designing control panels incorporating programmable logic controllers
  • PLC programming languages (ladder, FBD) and communications protocols (MODBUS, BACNET etc.)
  • Onsite commissioning of controls equipment

Project Engineer

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Engineer to assist the company as it expands.

The work will involve assisting with the formulation of both high-level and detailed system specifications, co-ordination with cross-disciplinary building design teams, supplier management and customer support. The role involves management of multiple tasks across a variety of projects. Project management experience and an understanding of the building services industry is desirable.

The ideal candidate will hold:

  •  a good engineering degree or equivalent
  •   Have the ability to communicate with people from different technical backgrounds and levels of responsibility is essential 
  • He/ She should be able to read complex engineering and architectural drawings
  •  An understanding of Auto CAD/ SolidWorks is desirable, but is not essential 

The position is based in our Cambridge office. The successful applicant will be expected to attend client meetings and construction sites across the UK. 

Consulting Engineer

Breathing Buildings is a young, rapidly growing Natural Ventilation company based in Cambridge that is currently seeking a high calibre Consulting Engineer. 

 The role will involve working with architects, main contractors and building services engineers to position Breathing Buildings’ products and services as the preferred choice for clients.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A good engineering degree (preferably mechanical) or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, who is comfortable dealing with clients from different technical backgrounds.
  • The ability to read complex engineering and architectural drawings.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks or similar software (desirable).
  • Experience of the M&E consulting/contracting sector (advantageous but not essential).
  • A full, clean driver’s licence.

The post is based in our Cambridge office, but will involve travelling to clients and construction sites across the UK.
